Take time to settle your mind in prayer. Contemplate Psalm 46 as you spend time in prayer:
10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”
11 The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
As you pray, ask God to remind you of a time in the past week that brings gratitude. Look for a time when you were most able to give and receive love. What was said that made it life-giving?
Also look for a time when you were the least grateful. A time when you were least able to give or receive love. A time that drained life from you. What was said or done that made it so draining for you?
What wisdom, insight or further questions arise from this awareness? How might God be inviting you to incorporate into your life more of that which brings life and less of that which drains life?
Thank God for his presence in your time of solitude.
